The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been dissolved and has begun operating under a new name, the Special Response Battalion (SRB).
The force officially began its operations under the new name on Wednesday (September 16), according to its Director General, Ahsan Habib Palash.
Speaking to the media, he said, “A gazette has been issued naming the force SRB. We have changed RAB’s name to SRB and started all activities under the new name from today.”
The invitation letter for the press conference called by the force on Wednesday featured a new logo in which the words “SRB Bangladesh” replaced “RAB.” However, the design of the logo remains unchanged.
The new logo has also been seen in press releases issued by various units of the force.
