A bus of the ‘Bandhan’ transport service lost control while traveling at high speed in Subarnachar, Noakhali, and overturned after falling into a roadside ditch. Around 10 passengers were injured in the accident. It has been alleged that the bus was being driven by the helper instead of the regular driver.

The accident occurred at around 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday (September 15) on the Sonapur–Subarnachar road, north of Harish Chowdhury Bazar.

According to locals and eyewitnesses, the ‘Bandhan’ bus was traveling from Chattogram to Chairman Ghat in Hatiya. After entering the Sonapur–Subarnachar road, the bus was reportedly traveling at a high speed. At one point, the driver lost control, causing the bus to overturn and fall into a roadside ditch.

After receiving the news, police arrived at the scene and, with the help of local residents, rescued the passengers from inside the bus. However, the driver and helper reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident.

One passenger claimed that the bus was traveling at excessive speed after entering the Sonapur–Subarnachar road. The passenger also alleged that the helper, rather than the driver, was driving the bus at the time. He said the bus lost control because of the excessive speed and crashed into the ditch.

Rafiqul Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Char Jabbar Police Station, said police went to the scene after receiving information about the accident and rescued the injured with the assistance of local residents. He said no one had filed a written complaint in connection with the incident. Legal action will be taken if a complaint is submitted.
